| 1st Time Guest Feedback | Thanks for filling out a Connect Card! We are glad you came to Sojourn and we want you to know that you matter to us, and we value your opinion. We'd appreciate your feedback on the next few questions. |
| Alpha Group Interest Form | Whether you're new to Sojourn and you're not quite sure where to jump in or you've been around for a while and you can't seem to find a Community Group that fits your schedule, an Alpha Group is a good place to start. Sojourn's Alpha Groups meet on Sundays (9AM & 5PM) at The 930 and will give you a great opportunity to begin to build some lasting relationships within Sojourn and grow in your understanding and application of the gospel. We'll be seeking to learn together more of what it means to live our whole lives in response to the gospel message. |
| Community Group Leader Application | Community Group Leaders directly shepherd, nurture, encourage and guide the members of Sojourn Community Church. This means that the primary responsibility of a group leader is to see that one's group members embrace the gospel and mature biblically in gospel community with one another - as family, missionaries, servants, and learners. Thus, group leaders foster redemptive, intentional but informal, gospel-centered relationships among group members. They facilitate weekly sermon discussion, prayer, and service, and they have the privilege of being directly involved in the day-to-day, week-to-week, and month-to-month transformation of individuals and families through the power of the gospel. Since the role of Community Group Leader requires more shepherding than teaching, a group leader's lifestyle is crucial. A group leader must model a gospel-centered lifestyle characterized by repentance and faith. In this way, a Community Group Leader points to Christ and illustrates the ongoing nature and character of gospel transformation. Having said that, Sojourn's leadership realizes that every potential group leader is at a different point on his/her journey with Christ. Practically speaking, this means that a Community Group Leader is not expected (1) to be the most mature Christian in the church, (2) to have all of the answers to questions that he/she may be asked, or (3) to be a perfect portrait of Christian growth and maturity. However, Community Group Leaders are expected (1) to be faithful and to lead by faith in Christ, (2) to love and care for those in one's group, as family, continually moving toward each one with gospel intentionality, even when the group leader may be fearful, prideful, or apathetic, (3) to repent and ask forgiveness when he/she sins against another, and (4) to remember that ministry is a mutual blessing - blessing others and being blessed by others. Ultimately, Sojourn's leadership is looking for individuals and married couples with teachable hearts, who will joyfully receive instruction in how they can personally mature in the gospel and better care for those God has placed around them. The role of Community Group Leader is a challenging and demanding one, but those who accept the challenge experience a renewed understanding of what ministry and everyday life in gospel community are all about. |

| So, you want to be a Community Group Leader? | Whether you're stepping into Community Group leadership within Sojourn for the first time or you'd simply like to explore what's expected of Sojourn's group leaders, this class is for you. For three Wednesday evenings in October (Oct. 14, Oct. 21, & Oct. 28) we'll talk Gospel, Church, and Mission, and we'll discuss how these three important values inform group life at Sojourn. We'll also talk group leadership logistics: What does it look like to host a group in your home? What does it look like to lead a weekly Community Group discussion? How can your Community Group engage in gospel word & deed ministry through Seed? What exactly does Sojourn expect of Community Group Leaders? We'll chat about all this and more, as we seek to prepare you to lead a Community Group. Please note that husbands AND wives are strongly encouraged to attend the training sessions, if possible. |
